Information about blepharoplasty

My today's blog goes about the treatment blepharoplasty. Eyelid surgery can be carried out on the upper and lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty involves more than just removing a strip of skin. It is a treatment that can only be performed by qualified specialists. It is therefore advisable to look for an expert clinic that can advise you in an expert manner.

With a correction of the upper eyelids, the excess skin is going to be removed by a qualified specialist. The scars from this treatment are going to lie in the natural fold of the upper eyelid.

Aftercare

A good follow-up care is essential for the proper conduct of the healing process. The first few days after surgery, the eye can feel sore and swollen. This will be less after a couple of days. It is also recommended you take it easy the first few days. This promotes the recovery of the eyelids. Depending on your condition, you can still perform light household chores.

Complications

Just like any other surgery there is a risk of bleeding and / or infection which the plastic surgeon will inform you about. Also, there is a chance of a temporary accumulation of the tissue fluid in the treated area. The final result of the threatment is reached after 3 to 6 months.

Insurance

If there is a medical indication and you are additionally insured, then you may qualify for reimbursement of the treatment. Please always consider that you always need to pay a contribution due own risk (in The Netherlands). If you don't have a medical indication then the whole treatment is for your own account.
